The Genesis of Tour Path Putting System
Clinton’s groundbreaking invention, can be traced back to an event in Turkey. Here, he noticed fellow professionals using chalk lines for putting practice, a method he realized was flawed. This observation spurred him to delve into research, eventually leading to the creation of the Tour Path upon his return to Canada in 2013, where he began teaching full-time.
A Journey of Innovation and Excellence
The Tour Path Putting System, initially crafted from rudimentary materials like cardboard, glue, and an old Taylor Made fitting board, evolved through stages of innovation and refinement. Clinton’s relentless pursuit of perfection saw the first prototype constructed from stainless steel, with a lower rail designed to accommodate a custom putter. However, the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic and ensuing challenges in sourcing putters led to a significant design pivot. Clinton raised the rail to make the Tour Path compatible with any putter, enhancing its versatility.
In his quest to cater to the common improvement areas for golfers, Clinton meticulously chose the 6/10/15-foot markings on the Tour Path Putting System. The design was thoughtfully tailored to fit conveniently into most golf bags. His commitment to quality and local craftsmanship is evident in the fact that the Tour Path Putting System is proudly made in Canada. Despite the higher costs, Clinton ensured the original model was crafted from kitchen-grade stainless steel with spot welding. The latest iteration, a testament to his dedication to continuous improvement, is fashioned from aircraft-grade aluminum. This choice not only provides the correct acoustics but also eliminates welds and simplifies the manufacturing process, making the Tour Path Putting System a versatile tool for both left and right-handed golfers.
Clinton Schmaltz’s career and innovations stand as a testament to his love for golf, his dedication to teaching, and his unwavering commitment to enhancing the golfing experience for players at all levels.
